The Haitian earthquake in January 2010 destroyed almost all of the water tanks in Port-au-Prince used for storing community water – only 28 tanks survived while 87 were damaged or destroyed.

And even the tanks left standing are having problems getting water to them. So International Action, a Haiti charity focused on solving Haiti’s dirty water problem, has designed a system to supply clean water to Haitians. Two big water pumps are producing hundreds of thousands of gallons of water and International Action’s team on the ground are running 10 water trucks a day to get water to the working tanks.

Each water truck holds enough water to give one gallon of water to 15,000 Haitians every day and it ONLY costs $100 a day to run these trucks. When you think “donation Haiti” please think of giving money to this Haiti Charity solving the water problem from the ground up.

International action is focused on fixing the damaged tanks and replacing the destroyed water tanks. Safe water is one of the top problems in Haiti today- before the earthquake hit Haiti already had the highest infant mortality rate in the western hemisphere. And the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) tells us that more than half of all the deaths in Haiti are caused by dirty, unsafe water.

donate to Haiti and you can save infants, children and the elderly who get sick and die every year from a lack of clean, safe drinking water. Your $100 donation to Haiti will give 15,000 people clean, safe water today.
