To Wow Grind or Not to WoW Grind
No matter how unique a player versus environment MMO is, there are always two options for gaining experience. This is also the case in the popular game World of Warcraft. Some people insist hat the WoW grind is the best method for gaining levels. Other players loath the idea of sitting in a single place for hours on end, killing creatures to get to 80. Many of these players insist that questing is the best way to obtain experience in WoW. Whether or not the WoW grind works for you really depends on your play style and what you prefer to do.
A Steady Pace
Some players have no problem hanging out in one zone as they execute the WoW grind. The benefit to this method of experience gathering is you can play at your own pace. You can find a nice solo location to hunt and go for it. Need a break? Stop any time without worrying about a group. Plus, there is much less thinking involved so you can relax and let your character kill. You will not have to worry about traveling from place to place, looking for items or NPCs.
The downside to the WoW grind is obvious. It can become a total bore after about an hour or two. It is highly recommended you try multitasking if you tend to lose interest when attempting the WoW grind. Put on a movie or some music to keep your mind engaged. If you use voice chat or guild chat, have a conversation and get to know your fellow players while you level. Who knows,  if you WoW grind enough you may even wind up with a rare world drop in your inventory!
An Interesting Way to Level
Questing offers a unique way to gain experience, especially when compared to the WoW grind. This method usually requires a lot of moving around, searching for a mob or NPC that you must interact with. For many players, this is far more engaging and requires no other distractions to stay interesting. Plus, you can read through the quest line and gain interesting role play story to enrich the gaming experience.
The downside to questing is that you may need friends to join you for some quests. These may be more challenging or require another characters abilities so you can obtain your objective. Plus, if you have trouble navigating, you may get sick of searching for the mob you need to find. Also, if you wind up grouping, you will need to interact with others and take them into consideration should you need a break or a fast afk.
In reality, there is no one way to level. It all depends on your personal preferences. The WoW grind can be very time consuming and boring, on the other hand it allows plenty of player flexibility. You may even turn a nice profit this way. On the other hand, questing is far more engaging and interactive, allowing you to learn more about an areas history while taking in all the sights in the game. Whether you choose to WoW grind or quest is up to you.
